For women already captivated by the menstrual cup, we’re hoping that the improvements made to the MÏU cup will give you satisfaction.
For the others, you got past the worst part girls.
Now follow the manual.
As a small reminder or explanation, the cup is a small container that will collect your menstrual fluid.
It is reusable, can be worn for up to 8 hours, and is completely gentle with your intimate parts.
Well placed, it will revolutionize (yes, all that!) your daily life.
THE ADVANTAGES OF THE MÏU CUP:
HOW DOES THAT WORK?
The MÏU cup is sterilized with boiling water at the beginning and end of your period.
1- In a saucepan, saved for this purpose, bring the water to a boil and plunge the cup into it for 7 minutes. Of course, wait for it to cool before inserting it, or run it under cold water.
2- Wash your hands THOROUGHLY before inserting or removing it.
3- Fold your MÏU cup. We promised you that we’d be honest, the most complicated part is finding the fold that suits you, the watchword: trying.
4- Don’t keep the MÏU cup more than 8 hours straight
TWO FOLDS WHICH WE PARTICULARLY LIKE AT MÏU
Fold no. 1: Fold the MÏU cup in 2, in a «C» shape
Fold no. 2: Place your finger on the edge of the cup and push it inward
INSERTING YOUR MÏU CUP
Get into a comfortable position, lying on your bed, crouched under the shower or over the toilet, the main thing is to be comfortable and relaxed. Since the vagina is a muscle, the tenser you are, the more complicated the insertion will be.
It’s time to insert your MÏU cup.
Whilst keeping it folded, position it at about the length of your thumb from the entrance of the vagina.
Remove your fingers and the cup unfolds by itself. Play around with the stem to create an in-draught and to make sure it is well positioned.
Once unfolded, it will naturally be placed at the right height so it’s not uncomfortable.
REMOVING YOUR MÏU CUP
It can never be repeated enough, wash your hands THOROUGHLY !
Push a little on your pelvis to make the stem pass through slightly.
Grab it and GENTLY pull on the stem until the cup appears.
Clip the cup to make an air call by pulling on it while making go-and-come to remove it.
Empty your cup : toilet, sink or shower, it all depends on where you feel most comfortable.
WASHING YOUR MÏU CUP
During your cycle, it is not necessary to sterilise your MÏU cup every time you remove and insert it. Rinse it well with water, I repeat, with water, if you use soap and you don’t rinse it well, residue can build up in your vagina.
In (rare) cases, where there is no sink, you can wipe it with a bit of toilet paper, but the best thing is to have a small bottle of water in your bag or a pipette of physiological serum for those who tend to carry small handbags…
STORE THE MIU CUP
At the end of menstruation, sterilize the MÏU cup as explained above.
Place it in the pretty pouch provided until its next use.
MÏU CUP AND TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME
A little explanation of an unrecognized disease :
TSS is caused by a bacterium called Staphylococcus aureus. This bacterium is naturally present in 20% of the population, both men and women combined. It can be found in the nose, throat, vagina and skin.
If this toxin passes through the blood, due to injury or wearing of internal period protection, AND the carrier is not immunised, the body reacts quickly and very badly in particular. It can result in organ failure and lead to blood poisoning (widespread infection).
The build-up of blood in the tampon inserted in your vagina is a favorable environment for the development of TSS.
To date, there is only one published case of TSS in the world (can be more likely with particularly long periods) with a cup.
Our advice: wash your hands thoroughly before inserting or removing your MÏU cup and never keep it in for more than eight hours in a row.
A FEW SMALL DETAILS
You can wear your MÏU cup in the day, at night, when you play sports or even at the beach: more removals during your periods.
How often you empty and rinse it depends on your ow and the cup size you have chosen.
MÏU cup is not a method of contraception and does not protect you from sexually transmitted diseases. It must be removed BEFORE sexual intercourse.
If you wear a coil, you can use a MÏU cup with your gynecologist’s consent.
You must empty it a little more often if your ow is heavy.
You can trim the stem for comfort, as it was designed for that. The balls will serve as a reference.
It is easier to insert your MÏU cup if it’s moist. Water is enough, but you can also use water-based lubricants.
After giving birth, consult your gynecologist before reusing your MÏU cup.
